The UPCET 2024 schedule covers admissions for candidates seeking undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering, CSIT, management, pharmacy and related fields. Note that B.Tech admissions will not be through a separate UPCET exam; B.Tech seats (four-year) will be allotted using JEE Main scores, while B.Arch admissions will rely on NATA results.
This year NATA will begin from April 6, 2024, with sessions offered on Saturdays and Sundays. Registration for NATA opens on March 1, 2024. Aspiring candidates must complete and submit the NATA 2024 application form to take part. See NATA 2024 information
CUET 2024 dates are announced — the test is scheduled between May 15 and May 31, 2024, as a computer-based exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the CUET 2024 application form in the first week of February 2024. Applicants can submit the CUET UG form at the official portal cuet.samarth.ac.in. See CUET 2024 information
Successful applicants will be able to take admission in multiple government and private colleges across the state. This article summarizes the latest updates on UPCET Admissions 2024 and related processes. To confirm admission, candidates must pay either Rs. 20,000 or Rs. 12,000. UPTAC counselling round 2 for 2023 started on September 21. See UPTAC 2023: AKTU admissions via CUET PG
UPCET (previously UPSEE) used to be the state-level entrance test administered by AKTU for various UG and PG programs in engineering, CSIT, management, pharmacy and allied fields. From 2023 onward, UPCET has been replaced by national-level tests such as JEE Main, NATA and CUET for seats in AKTU, MMMUT and other Uttar Pradesh state universities. Candidates with valid JEE Main, CUET or CUET PG scores can take part in UPTAC counselling for 2023.

Since admissions to AKTU and other affiliated institutes are now routed through JEE Main, NATA and CUET rather than UPCET, the section below explains the counselling schedule handled via UPTAC (formerly UPCET counselling) —

The UPCET 2023 exam pattern is outlined below:
Exam Mode: UPCET 2023 was conducted in an online, computer-based format.
Question Type: The question paper consisted of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
Duration: Slot I candidates were allotted 3 hours 15 minutes, while Slot II candidates had 3 hours 45 minutes.
Language: Question papers were available in 13 languages including Bengali, English, Hindi, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Malayalam, Punjabi and Urdu.
Marking Scheme: Each correct answer carried 5 marks and 1 mark was deducted for each wrong response.
The UPCET 2023 syllabus was based on topics corresponding to relevant qualifying degrees. For undergraduate admissions, the syllabus drew from subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as applicable.
For postgraduate programs, the syllabus followed the candidates’ respective graduation subjects. See the detailed UPCET 2023 syllabus
Candidates should follow a structured study plan and practice effectively to score well in UPCET 2023. The following preparation tips can help improve performance.
UPCET 2023 cutoffs were released as opening and closing ranks for each counselling round. Each round published its own opening and closing ranks. See UPCET cutoff trends
The table below provides expected UPCET 2023 cutoff ranges based on trends from previous years:
Admissions to B.Tech courses under AKTU are now determined by JEE Main scores. The list of courses that were part of the former UPCET scheme is given in the table below:
Candidates aiming for B.Tech first-year admissions would now use JEE Main 2023 scores for entry to B.Tech/B.Arch programs at AKTU-affiliated colleges. For B.Tech admissions, students must appear in JEE Main Paper 1; Paper 2 is for B.Arch and B.Planning. Read JEE Main exam pattern
Vacant seats in B.Tech Agriculture and B.Tech Biotechnology after JEE Main counselling may be filled using UPCET 2023 scores.
UPCET 2023 results were published by NTA on the official website. Separate merit lists were prepared for different programs based on candidates’ performance. Candidates could download their UPCET 2023 scorecards and merit ranks by entering their roll number and date of birth. Result documents listed the course applied for, merit rank, total marks and marks obtained in each subject.
Qualifying marks required to pass UPCET 2023 were as specified below:
After the exam, NTA released the UPCET 2023 answer key showing correct answers for each question. Candidates used the answer key to estimate their scores and predict potential ranks and college options prior to the results. The answer keys were published on the official site upcet.nta.nic.in.
NTA initially issued a provisional answer key open to challenges. To contest any response, candidates needed to email NTA with details including Name, Roll Number, Paper Number, Paper Code, Question Number, the proposed correct answer and supporting proof. Acceptance of any challenge depended on the expert committee’s decision; if changes were accepted, a revised answer key was issued.
Qualified candidates were eligible to participate in the counselling process for allocation of seats. A merit list based on UPCET scores determined the order of candidates. Those listed in the merit list were called for document verification and, upon verification, could proceed to registration and locking of their choices.
UPTAC counselling for UPCET 2023 allocated seats based on a candidate’s exam rank together with the preferences locked during the choice-filling stage.
AKTU followed both vertical and horizontal reservation policies for seat allocation under UPCET. The reservation categories are detailed below:
UPCET 2023 scores were recognized by many government, government-aided and private unaided colleges affiliated with Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) and several other state universities in Uttar Pradesh — around 841 institutions in total. See UPCET 2023 participating colleges
