Registrations for XAT 2026 began on 10 July 2025 and will remain open until 5 December 2025. The exam is scheduled for 4 January 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode across 80+ cities in India.

XAT is a prominent MBA entrance test accepted by over 800 business schools in India, including top names like XLRI Jamshedpur, XIMB and IMT Ghaziabad.

To be eligible for XAT 2026, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree; there is no minimum percentage or age restriction. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in GD-PI rounds organized by individual institutes, with selection activities beginning in February 2026.

XAT 2026 is a national-level MBA entrance exam conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur.

The exam is set for 4 January 2026 in CBT mode and is accepted by more than 800 MBA colleges across India.

XAT 2026 registration opened on 10 July 2025 and closes on 5 December 2025. Applicants must complete the form, upload documents and pay the application fee of Rs. 2,200.

XLRI Jamshedpur has released the official XAT 2026 exam date: 4 January 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, to be held as a CBT.

To appear for XAT 2026, candidates must register and finish the application process on the official website: xatonline.in.

The registration steps include creating an account, completing the application with personal and academic details, uploading required documents, choosing an exam city and paying the fee.

Registrations for XAT grew compared to last year, with a notable rise in sign-ups during 2025.

However, the number of test-takers remained relatively steady, indicating a difference between registrations and actual attendance.

Applicants must pay the required fees online during registration; all fees are non-refundable and the process is transparent.

To apply for XAT 2026, candidates must meet basic academic criteria to broaden access to the exam.

There is no specified age limit or minimum percentage, though certain XLRI programs, especially some general management courses, require relevant work experience.

Foreign applicants must follow specific eligibility rules applicable to overseas candidates.

The XAT 2026 exam will be computer-based and will last 180 minutes.

The essay writing section has been removed from the main paper and will now be assessed during GD-PI rounds.

The XAT cutoff is the minimum percentile used by institutes to shortlist candidates for GD-PI stages.

Ans. XAT is generally considered tougher than many other MBA entrance tests because of its Decision-Making and General Knowledge sections, which add complexity to the paper.

Ques. Is 27 a good score in XAT?

Ans. A score of 27 in Part 1 is often regarded as strong and can correspond roughly to the 92–94th percentile in a moderately difficult session.

With such a score, candidates may be competitive for institutes like IMT Ghaziabad and certain XLRI programs; however, other XLRI courses such as BM may demand higher marks.
